The SPRO & Gamakatsu Open

August 6th, 2022 on Lake St Helen

Top Bass Tournament Trail, held its seventh tournament of the season, on Lake St. Helen. This event was named “The Spro & Gamakatsu Open”, in honor of one of our long time great sponsors.

The weather for the tournament was very Hot, with P. Cloudy skies, and temps at about 90+.The fishing was not too bad, as we had 28 five fish limits come to the scales, and a total of 179 fish in total. Of the 179 fish that came to the scales all but one was returned to the lake alive. We only had 7 anglers who did not weigh-in.

A special “Thank You” to all the St. Helen people that helped make this event happen.

Congratulations to Billy Booth, from Midland, who edged out the Second Place finisher, by .02#. Billy had a 5 fish limit for 13.93#, to take First Place. Following right behind him in Second Place was Tom Shoemaker Jr. from Pinconning, with a limit at 13.91#. Third Place went to Mark Reinke, from Gladwin, with 13.40#. John Franko, from Clare, held down Fourth Place with 11.65#. Right behind him, was Jim Baker from Bay City, with 11.62#, to take the Fifth Place spot. There was a tie for 5th Place, as Keith Gyulveszi, from Clare, also had 11.62#, but was beat out of the 5th Place spot, by the tie breaker, which was their big bass. Baker had a bass @ 3.36# and Gyulveszi @ 3.15#. There were lots of very close weights that hit the scales. Good job to all who fished
