TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Shoe's Top Bass Tournament Trail, held its 9 and final tournament of the 2025 season, on the Saginaw River/Limited Bay. The tournament went out of the Independence Bridge Launch, by the USS Edison. The event was named, “The Northwoods Wholesale Outlets – 2 Day Championship”, in honor of our very good sponsor.
The weather on Saturday, was a mix of sun & clouds, and temp in the 70’’s. The winds were blowing at 10-16mph & gusts of 30mph. Then on Sunday, it was Sunny temps in the 70”s and winds 8-12mph.
The Friday before the tournament the winds were 20-24 mph and gusts as high as 50mph. It made for some very muddy looking water in the river.
The fishing was rather tough in the river with the water being so muddy looking. Those who went into the bay had better looking water, but a windy condition to fish in. We also had only 7 bass over 4# come to the scales for the Championship.
Congratulations to Travis Vida, from Clare, who won the Championship with 17.79# on day one, and followed it up with 18.30# on day two, for a total of 36.09#. Second Place went to Brendan Gyulveszi, who had 18.47# on day one and was the leader, and he then had 16.15# on day two, for a total of 34.62#. Brendan also had Big Bass for day one with 4.59#. It truly was a battle between our young guns, and they flipped flopped the two days, with one having the most weight and the other the second most weight on day one, and the they exchanged positions for most weight on day two. Great job to you both, as you made it very exciting to watch. Third Place went to Billy Booth who had 17.77# on day one, and 14.05# on day two for a total of 31.82#. Billy also received the “Heavy Hitters” belt for having the largest bass of the season, at 5.50#. Mike Sielinski, from Gladwin, held down 4th Place with 13.78# on day one, and 15.25# on day two, for a total of 29.03#.
The 2025 ANGLER OF THE YEAR went to John Franko, from Clare. This is the 3rd straight year, that he has taken home, Top Bass’s top honor. Angler Of The Year goes to the angler who totals the most points for all 9 tournaments. Points are given, based on your finish position in each tournament.
Congratulations John on a job well done. John also received the AOY Belt, along with the trophy and the many prizes.
A SPECIAL “THANK YOU”, to Keith and Brendan Gyulveszi and Johnson & Wood Mechanical Contractors for donating both the Heavy Hitters and AOY belts. It was very much appreciated by all.
