**Challenge 1**
June 27th, 2026 on Lake St Helen
From L to R: Travis Green, Michael Sielinski, Keith Gyulveszi and Nathan Helmreich
TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Top Bass Tournament Trail, held its 4th tournament of the 2026 season on Lake St. Helen.
This tournament was named “The Frank’s Great Outdoors – Challenge – 1” . This was a normal one day event, with an added optional 2 lake Challenge event. For those who entered the Challenge, this was the 1st Lake in the optional Challenge event. Our next normal one day event, will be July 11, on Missaukee Lake and is also the 2nd lake of the 2 lake Challenge.
This is the 30th year for Top Bass, and we are very proud of how far we have come. Thanks to all who were responsible over the years for making it the #1 rated singles tournament format in the state.
The weather for the tournament was foggy at the start, then turned into a very nice day. The temp was in the 70’s, with very little wind.
The fishing was very good, except that there were not very many big fish weighed in. We had 33 limits and a total of 183 fish weighed in. All but one was returned to the lake, for a 99.5% live release. Great job to all the anglers for making sure their catch was healthy and alive for weigh-in and release back into the lake.
Congratulations to Keith Gyulveszi, from Clare, who won this event with a 5 fish limit that hit the scales at 13.19#. Second Place went to Michael Sielinski, from Gladwin, with 12.55#. Third Place went to Nathan Helmreich, from Freeland, with 12.28#, who was a new angler to Top Bass. Fourth Place was held down by Billy Booth, from Midland, with 12.12#. Peter Jones from Midland took Fifth Place with 11.87#. The Big Bass honors for this event went to Travis Green, from Grand Blanc, with a very nice largemouth at 5.75#. This was his only fish to weigh-in, so he found the right one!
A Special “Thank You”, to Frank’s Great Outdoors, for being the title sponsor of this event, and also sponsor of the 2 Lake Challenge, which this was the first lake.
